Picture of Richard Musselman on a foggy beach taken around 2006
A picture I took of dad that I found deep in my archives while preparing for his funeral.

My father, Richard Musselman passed away on July 21st, 2022 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno at the age of 78.

Richard was born in 1944 in Ogden Utah to Hazel Musselman and Jerome Musselman. He grew up in Ogden, sharing many outdoor adventures with his family. He attended Ben Lomond High school, playing Football and competing in Track for the Scots. He graduated from Ben Lomond in 1962, then he studied at Weber State. There he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Political Science.

Richard then served in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1968 to 1969, working in the communications shop and achieving the rank of sergeant.

On return to the United States, he began working for the Internal Revenue Service at the Ogden Center. His promotion to auditor took him to San Francisco California, where he met his future wife Kathy. He was later promoted to revenue agent. During this time, Richard obtained his private pilot’s license like his father.

Richard married Kathy in 1987. His son Andrew was born in 1988. Together, the family continued the tradition of outdoor adventures: They traveled the Western United states camping and exploring. He retired with his wife to Reno in 2010.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Hazel and Jerome and his brother Jerry. He is survived by his wife Kathy and his son Andrew. There will be a funeral service at 1:30 PM MDT on Monday August 1st at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park at 100 N Monroe Blvd in Ogden Utah. Friends and family are invited to gather before the service.
